This session describes some of the significant enhancements provided in Exchange Server 2010. This session provides an overall description of the most important design priorities for Exchange 2010. It also provides additional details on the enhancements that the Exchange Server 2010 users will experience. This session provides a description of how these features work, as well as the information on how to configure these features.

Module 2: Exchange Server 2010: Enhancing the Exchange Administrator Experience
This session provides a description of some of the new features in Exchange Server 2010 that will make is easier for administrators to manage and maintain the messaging environment. Also included in this session is a description of the new message transport features, the new database and high availability options, and the new administration tools and features. This session also provides an overview of the process for upgrading from previous versions of Exchange Server to Exchange Server 2010.

Gli studenti devono possedere esperienza in:

• Windows Server 2003 o 2008 compreso directory services.
• Windows XP o Vista e Office/Outlook. 
• Apparecchiature mobile windows-based e mobile Office/Outlook. 
• Tecnologie di rete asincrone inclusi TCP/IP, messaging transports, accesso remoto, VPNs. 
• Storage e Storage Area Networks (SANs), clustering, load balancing.

Devono inoltre possedere:

• Concetti fondamentali di virtualizzazione (ed es. VMWare e Hyper-V). Non è necessaria la conoscenza di Windows Server Hyper-V. 
• Conoscenza di procedure IT, quali service level management, high availability e disaster recovery, change management.
• Concetti fondamentali di sicurezza IT, inclusi network authentication, access control, encryption, edge security, malicious software e anti-virus/anti-spam, messaging security. Non è necessaria una conoscenza approfondita di  sicurezza o messaging security/privacy/compliance, né di Forefront Security per Exchange.
• Elementi generali di Exchange Management Shell/PowerShell. Non è richiesta la conoscenza  di Windows PowerShell 2.0, utilizzato da Exchange Server 2010 Management Shell.
• Concetti fondamentali di cloud computing e hosted services. Non è necessaria la conoscenza degli hosted Exchange services.

I partecipanti che stanno ancora utilizzando Exchange 2003 non conoscono i server roles introdotti con Exchange Server 2007, quindi è opportuno che ne studino le caratteristiche.
Non sono invece richieste competenze di Unified Communications, tecnologie di comunicazione sincrona,  VoIP e tecnologie di integrazione voce/dati.
